Sky has blocked its customers from accessing illegal downloads site Newzbin2.The ban on visiting the members-only site, which offers links to other locations on the web where music, movies and other content can be illegally downloaded, came into force on December 13.The move comes after the Motion Picture Association (MPA) called for Sky, along with Virgin Media and TalkTalk to follow BT and block access to the site."Content owners can seek a court order which can compel internet service providers (ISPs) to block access to those sites over their broadband networks," Sky said on its website."This happened with a website called Newzbin 2. We have received a court order requiring us to block access to this illegal website, which we did on 13th December, 2011."BT was forced to block web users in the UK from accessing Newzbin2 in July this year, after the MPA started legal action against the ISP in June.Justice Arnold who presiding over the case, also ordered BT to use its own Cleanfeed technology, which is already used to block access to websites containing child sex abuse images, to prevent access to Newzbin2BT has already been ordered to block the members-only site that offers links to other locations on the web where music, movies and other content can be illegally downloaded, following a ruling by High Court Judge Justice Arnold in July this year.."Moving forward, as and when clear and legally robust evidence of copyright theft is presented, we will take appropriate action in respect to site blocking, which will include complying with court orders," Sky added.pc advisor
