No probs with the wifi here so far. Got 3 mobiles connected, my laptop and my PC so far without problem.

I notice it dropped signal about an hour ago though, stats now -

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:   1.421 / 18.369
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:   12,1 / 18,5s
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:   16,4 / 28,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:   4,2 / 3,1

but that may be something to do with me tweaking it to within an inch of its life!

@snadge - not sure what happened to the post. I posted it early this morning and you saw it so, not sure where it went?

Well not one to give up, I had text from O2 saying now I have left and do not have number registered I lose my discount.

O2 No this happened last month but I'd added the wife's O2 number and got the discount, so I logged on and had online chat and got an apology and a refund and whilst I'm on what about this router upgrade.

So got anther apology for not getting a email about and in 72 hours I'll get router and a bag to return the old one.

Decision now which old one the II, III or the IV, I think the III it's the biggest.

Good result, thanks thar for the idea, good thinking man.

@ KRW - are you checking your error stats after reducing noise margin?

what is your current noise margin?
have you tried other speedtesters?
are you using wifi or lan?

put your noise margin back up to 6db+ and see if that makes a difference, a high error count can cause loss of throughput

if still same with higher noise margin then it could be your anti-virus's firewall messing with results, Kaspersky is a known culprit to screw with speedtests

Put old router on and it was back to normal, I'll disconnect for half hour in the morning and put the new back on. with the new one throughput doesn't seem to be a problem as tried a p2p that was normal 200k+, MS update d/l was 965k+, no problem video streaming, so not too worried, not using Kaspersky, on MSE.

All's good after a new router 20 minutes switch off and disconnection, speed tests are back dslzone 16.95, speed test 17.21, Tech4talk 16.30, JDA 17.10 sync now a little lower.

Pings were 20-25 then 33-40 now 21 JDA 20ms
